Clinical Preceptorship in Ophthalmology
Course Description
This four-week rotation is designed for medical students who are pursuing a career in ophthalmology. Students will work with two or more full-time faculty preceptors, in two-week blocks. Direct patient care opportunities will be provided in clinic and surgery, covering a broad range of comprehensive and/or subspecialty ophthalmology.
Course requirements include a Grand Rounds presentation, a patient write-up for Moran's CORE educational website, and a wet lab training session. Clinical research opportunities are available in some cases, but this is an optional component of the course.
Please note that this course is only offered June through September and only four students per month are accepted. All applications will be reviewed by our Medical Student Director and selected applicants will be notified by Chandler Thompson. Application deadline is May 1st.

Evaluation Criteria
Evaluations will be completed according to the requirements of the student's medical school. Faculty preceptors and residents will evaluate the student, and the formal evaluation will be reviewed and approved by the residency and education director of the John A. Moran Eye Center.
