    Ophthalmology is a fascinating field to work in and I have enjoyed many different aspects of training. I am intrigued by intraocular surgery, including cataract and vitreoretinal surgery.  My main clinical interests are in inherited retinal and optic nerve diseases. My research currently focuses on enhancing knowledge in a variety of inherited retinal diseases, macular telangiectasia type 2 (MacTel), and age-related macular degeneration (AMD).  In the future, I aim to be a clinician-scientist focusing on enhancing diagnostics and treatment.

    Interests & Hobbies

    In my personal time, I enjoy photography, especially photography of the night sky. During the winter months, I spend my time skiing the “best snow on earth.” Additionally, I like to bake, hike, and composing and playing music on the piano.

    Why Utah?

    My path to Utah has been unusual. As a medical student in Germany, I was offered to spend some time in Utah for research and never imagined how much I would enjoy living here. The Moran Eye Center has fascinated me from my first day, and continues to do so. I like how the Moran works as a team on all levels and we are truly part of the “Moran-family.” In addition, clinical and surgical training are excellent beyond all expectations and I am truly grateful to be able to train at the Moran Eye Center.
